Having also read and thoroughly enjoyed Sinclair's first book, Children of Hamlin, I wasn't exactly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I am not someone who often reads a lot of fantasy, but I have always believed that a good book defies all genres.

This was certainly the case with The Eternal Question/5(14). The Eternal Question plumbs the depth of the human psyche, pokes at the origin of religion, questions the class system and delves the very nature of reality. Dawn's writing is technically excellent, her character development faultless.

In quality of style I find this book on par with Ursula K. LeGuin's Earthsea Trilogy and Changing Planes/5.
